Now that the majority of the public sees Jessica as healthy looking rather than fat, she can actually stand tall and be proud of herself. I believe none of this would have happened if she had just chosen a different outfit. But oh well, we all make mistakes in the world of fashion after all!

Lady Gaga’s Futuristic Inspired Look – Fashion Forward or Fashion Victim?

I must admit that I’m not a big fan of Lady Gaga’s, even though I find myself singing along to her songs from time to time (they are catchy after all). But one thing I do admire her for is her fashion forward attitude. She’s not afraid to step out of the box and wear something completely unconventional and out of this world. Recently, Lady Gaga wore a futuristic-inspired white ruffle dress at the Z100 Jingle Ball last December and I just had to bring it up!



When I saw this dress it reminded me of a white flower bed as well as something out of dreams and fantasies…but definitely not something I would see on the street. The entire look itself it very fairy-tale like and it just brought me back to my childhood days. I must admit that I really do like the dress, and it also looks gorgeous on her.

Of course I would never be fashion forward enough to pull something like this off, but for Lady Gaga, it’s a perfect fit! The ruffles on the dress is simply beautiful and she almost looks angelic with her blonde locks against the crisp white fabric. The only thing I might have done differently is the shoes, but all in all, I give this a thumbs up!

Lucy Liu’s Outfit: Love it or Hate it?

Lucy Liu isn’t in the spotlight as much as we would like her to be, but that’s ok. She obviously keeps herself shielded from the Hollywood drama, but I was wondering what you all thought of her outfit at the Vanity Fair Character Project. Now I’m not a really daring, statement-making fashionista, but I do love my shoes and once in a while, I’ll go for something non-traditional. So what do you think of Lucy’s statement-making outfit?



Personally, I couldn’t pull that off, simply because of the collar. Other than that, I love how this dress fits on her and I love the orange and silver combination of her belt and top. The shoes also look good with the dress, but she could have chosen a racier pair to balance the conservative look of the outfit.

My only problem as I mentioned earlier was the collar. Take the collar off Lucy, and this outfit will be fabulous!

Fergie’s Neon Sandals: Hit or Miss?

So I admit that I’m not a huge Fergie fan, but that doesn’t mean that I’m going to put down her outfit because of that. When I first saw this picture, I thought…wow, okay, Fergie’s taken her outfits down a notch. I couldn’t believe what a simple dress she had chosen…until I scrolled down and saw her shoes.



Now I know that being a celebrity, gives these people the right to try new things and experiment with fashion…but sometimes it’s just a little too much. They need to step back, take a good look at themselves in the mirror and assess the outfit one more time before leaving the house.

Like I said, I actually really love her dress. It’s very fun, flirty and feminine. But the shoes? I’m not so sure about. I love the orange neon color by itself but what the hell are those black straps? I think the shoes sans black straps might have looked a little better, but even so, they do not go with the dress at all. What do you guys think?

Rachel McAdams is one of my favorite actresses, and I think we all fell in love with her somewhere during Mean Girls and the Notebook, but she recently launched her new movie The Time Traveler’s Wife, and showed up in a plunging neckline dress at the opening. So what do you think of her look, yay or nay?



First off I must say this is a different look for Rachel, who is otherwise pretty conservative and simple. I don’t hate the dress, but I can’t say I love it either. I don’t know if it’s the angle at which this picture was taken or what, but she seems really short to me! With that said, I think her hair looks absolutely gorgeous..very roaring 20s which I think complements the otherwise revealing dress.

I think this would have totally worked for Rachel if a few things woulda have been tweaked on the dress. First, I believe I’m seeing some shoulder pads…which I cannot stand. Second, the dress is the wrong length for Rachel – I think something that sweeped the floor would have suited her better. Overall though, I still think she looks beautiful, just the wrong dress! I will honestly tell you that when Rihanna first came out, I had a girl crush on her. I thought she was one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen, and I loved her music too. But, along the years, something happened to change Rihanna from the sweet girl next door, to  the dark, edgy rocker that we know today.

I have to say I liked Rihanna’s ‘Posh’ haircut that she sported earlier this year, but for some reason, she just keeps going shorter and shorter, and I’m not so sure that’s a good look for her. So what do you all think of Rihanna’s new look? Yay or nay? Let me know!

Kate Moss Wedding Dress

If her dress on her themed hen is anything to go by then we are certainly going to be in for a surprise come wedding day. Kate Moss celebrated her hen in true party animal style at The Isle of Wight festival last weekend. Rumour has it she requested the infamous Thelma – the dressmaker from My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding – to create her a dress to wear for the Hen party.

Apparently Kate was adamant that the dress included fairy lights and battery operated butterflies (just like the one’s on the show).According to sources, Kate’s hen party went so well they had to helicopter more booze to the festival site.  All of this draws our attention to one thing; Kate doesn’t do things by halves!

And proving this in true Kate style, this week it has been reported and confirmed that the official photographer for her and Jamie’s wedding will be superstar photographer, Mario Testino. Not an understated affair then Kate?

But the question on most people’s mind is on the 2nd July, when Kate finally walks up that aisle; whom will she be wearing?

First speculation was that she would design it herself. Vivienne Westwood was even quoted saying…‘She has done her own fashion range and she knows about clothes. She knows what she is doing, she doesn’t need my help.”

The name of Kate’s wedding dress designer has been subject to almost as much speculation as that of Kate Middleton. But Kate has been far less coy about the identity of her chosen designer. She announced to pals at a Topshop dinner that old friend and designer John Galliano would be designing her dress and was going to make it  with help from his stylist boyfriend Alexis Roche. Now this was exciting news. However, Kate’s fiancé, Jamie Hince, spoke on the matter earlier this, saying that the rumours were “unfounded entirely”.  What a shame!

So for the mean time, it’s back to speculation about the dress, and more importantly, the designer. Publications everywhere are clutching at straws for some sort of small clue as to the design and style of the dress. It has also been speculated that Kate will team up with celebrity stylist and dress designer Kate Halfpenny as it was Halfpenny who created that Seventies style dress that Moss wore to her 35th birthday celebrations.

Despite all of this, my money is still on Galliano. Kate has proven herself over the years to be a loyal friend and I can’t imagine she would choose anyone else to design something so prolific for her. Kate and Galliano’s friendship goes way back to her early days of modeling where she was paid by Galliano in clothes for walking the catwalk at one if his early shows.

Galliano is no stranger to designing wedding dresses for famous and beautiful women. He famously designed a wedding dress for supermodel Christy Turlington, and more recently gowns for the weddings of Gwen Stefani and Gisele Bundchen. Gwen said when planning her dress with Galliano “I wanted it to be over the top, but not traditional”. And this is exactly what He created. The dress is now available for public viewing at the V&A museum, according the Gwen “…it’s a work of art, it needed to be seen”

Gisele Bundchen’s dress was more delicate and subtle however. Made in traditional white silk, the dress was bias cut and featured scalloped detail around the hips. The dress also features a six-foot-long veil made of white silk tulle with white lace. A good pal of Moss’, Katy England has revealed that Kate’s dress also includes a veil, which isn’t out of the ordinary for a bride, but does point towards the fact that she could be going for a traditional ensemble.

When engaged to bad man rocker Pete Doherty, she was reported to have asked designer Alexander McQueen to create a £20,000 monochrome lace wedding dress described as being ‘traditional with a modern unique twist’ which I feel represents Kate styles perfectly.

But other than these snippets of hearsay, we are still left dumbfound as to the style and designer of the dress. The only indications we have of Kate in a dress are these exclusive pictures of Kate; photographed by Michael Woolley in 1991 that feature a very young Kate modeling five wedding dresses (including veils!) from leading wedding dress designers such as Laura Ashley and Manouche.

Kate Middleton Takes Hairdresser On US Tour

Kate Middleton’s hairdresser, who gave WhatBestToWear an exclusive interview a little while back, is accompanying her on her 11-day North American tour, due to commence at the end of June.

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge have decided on taking only seven staff with them on their trip which will begin in Canada and ends in California.

The seven staff includes their private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton and hairdresser James Pryce.

Kate has specifically declined to take a dresser and is rumoured to be wearing outfits already in her wardrobe, showing her thoughtfulness in this age of austerity.

The 11-day tour will start at Ottawa where they will celebrate Canada Day on July 1. They will then travel to Montreal, Quebec, Prince Edward Island and Calgary where they will participate in the Calgary Stampede.

After this they will head to Los Angeles to attend a BAFTA dinner and visit Inner City Arts, an organisation which helps children from deprived neighbourhoods in the area.

Prince William will then play a charity polo match in Santa Barbara in aid of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge return home to the UK.
