Even though summer hasn’t even begun yet, the catwalks are already full of designs ready for the Autumn/Winter 2011 season, and there are some exciting new trends in the evening dress department.
There are several new fashion trends that should get you excited about the colder months, even if you’re not looking forward to the weather. Here are some of the best:
Sheer – We don’t mean see through, but sheer dresses are one of the biggest trends for 2011. By sheer we mean layer upon layer of sheer materials, such as taffeta, lace and chiffon. This gives a sultry feel to any outfit, without being overtly sexy.
Lovely Lace – We’ve seen plenty of lace over the past few months and it doesn’t look like its going anywhere. There are different types of lace that we’re seeing – firstly the delicate, small designs that are used for detailing and secondly the larger, coarser type of lace designs that are used for bigger areas, such as lace dresses. Lace is being made into a snow queen effect for winter, being mixed with white fur (fake, of course) for a luxurious feel.
Gleaming Gold – Gold can sometimes be seen as tacky but this coming season it’s going to be big. Gold accessories, sequins, gleaming on a black background will be the look of the Autumn/Winter season. Watch out for gold leggings and studding as well as golden baroque patterns.
Draping and Ruffles – Grecian style draping is coming back for the winter months, perfect for a super feminine look. We’ll also see a continuation of ruffles throughout the season, which will be especially prevalent in evening gowns.
So, what colours can we expect to see hitting the town? The main colours will be black, nude and scarlet, as well as wintery white, creating a sumptuous, natural feel.
