New worries about HCG Diet

HCG Diet RisksNew diets like fads of all descriptions always draw attention especially when the claims made are quite substantial and nothing is new here in the HCG diet you immediately wonder is it safe and will it really work.

The HCG diet is based on a very strictly controlled calorie intake of just 500 calories of specific foods mainly unprocessed foods couple that with being administered a Hormone whose origins are related human pregnancy, it’s called human chorionic gonadotropin hence the acronym HCG.
The HCG hormone is taken through injections and for the squeamish you can have drops orally under the tongue.

At present the Food and Drugs Administration in the US has not given its approval to the use of HCG yet. The course of HCG injections or drops is not cheap a monthly course which is required is costly and can easily set you back 1000 USD.

Advocates of this diet claim exactly what a dieter would like to hear, a weight loss of one pound a day is possible without expected side effects like hunger pangs and feeling lethargic.

What’s really interesting is that the fat that comes off from the places that you would normally like it to come off from, i.e. the stomach, thighs and those bingo wings.

Critics say the weight loss is through the extreme calorie control that is pretty much diet through starvation, injections of any sort to gain a benefit is not without a payback of some sort, the doctors  working with this diet seem to disagree with the sceptics.

The dramatic weight loose has caught the dieting world’s eye, as well as doctors from across the globe, experts in the field seem less impressed just yet.

Professor of medicine Dr. Sam Klein from the science at Washington University doesn’t agree with the current findings of the initial trials and states that a extreme diet of just 500 calories daily for a duration will definitely cause the weight to drop off, But doubts if the use of HCG to aid this diet control would work, in line with the findings of other scientific data.

Years of diet regimes and research all tend to agree with the belief that extreme diets that claim a substantial weight loss in a very short space of time can be detrimental to the overall health of the body and is more likely to cause problems because of the body going  into starvation mode and the normal nutritional requirements not being met ,...do that over time and the body will start to suffer in some way .What’s more the recovery process of the body after the initial diet phase will simple mean that the lost weight will come back ,the only way  this might not happen is if the diet is sustained  indefinitely and this would be some feat for the human body .The side effects of such extreme dieting can lead to conditions that can only be countered acted  by surgery ,typical  health issues include hair loss, developing of gall stones and obviously constipation.

General consensus of a good diet is one that you can stick with without adverse side effects.
