New York Fashion Week 2011: Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2012

New York Fashion Week 2011: Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2012
For spring/summer 2012 Michael Kors transported his collection, maybe unintentionally, to the African plains.

Mixing slouchy fabrics with understated daywear Kors’ collection seemed to be more editorial this time round opting for cut-away swim suits with statement belts, trying perhaps to reach high octane pool side glamour, instead of his usual commercial appeal to the mass market.

For menswear Kors was just as casual adding slouchy trousers, parka jackets and khaki shorts all in warm Sahara colours and earth browns hues.

Surprisingly though with footwear Kors stuck with his chosen flat gladiator sandals throughout that either stopped at the ankle or worked their way up the upper calf area (and were buckled or laced up in style) – which all models festooned.

In the front row sat Michael Douglas, Zoe Saldana and model-turned actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley; all of whom may have wondered where this Project Runway TV judge had really taken his inspiration from…
