New York Fashion Week 2011: Oscar De La Renta Spring/Summer 2012

New York Fashion Week 2011: Oscar De La Renta Spring/Summer 2012It seems that Alice in Wonderland may have met, and clashed with, a Brazilian carnival at Oscar de la Renta’s spring/summer 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week yesterday (Tuesday 13 September 2011).

Making his first trio of models explode onto the catwalk in dramatic evening gowns complete with fitted bodices and billowing taffeta skirts (and caracos) in a palette of daffodil yellow, emerald green and burnt orange, Mr. de la Renta set the bar for the rest of his show.

A cascade of monochrome pieces then followed the dresses; all intricately detailed with origami style patterns cut out, alongside brocades and lace.

De la Renta then switched again to bright sunshine yellow summer dresses and shirts in conjunction with pastel green pants, crochet dresses, striped pieces and Chanel inspired tweed suits, as guests such as Valentino, Barbara Walters, Rachel Zoe and the Olsen’s watched on from the front row.

He swiftly carried on to caramel tones andcompleting the collection with statement evening dresses in an eclectic mix of colours, thus proving that he is definitely not a one trick pony when it comes to producing a luxury and meticulous catwalk show for his fans and followers.
