New York Fashion Week 2011: Monique Lhuillier Spring/Summer 2012

New York Fashion Week: Monique Lhuillier spring/summer 2012

Known for her red carpet gowns designer Monique Lhuillier took a complete u-turn providing a glamorous athletic style for her spring/summer 2012 show at New York Fashion Week.

Showcasing a mixture of chic daywear and elegant eveningwear Lhuillier mixed printed paneled leggings with billowing blouses (worn with stiletto high heels) alongside striped cocktail dresses and intricate stitching, all creating an illusion of a slimmer silhouette.

The palette consisted of sunshine yellow and bright block colours – which seemed to be the on-going trend from all designers so far at New York Fashion Week.

Lhuillier also paraded an array of cobalt blue pieces through the middle of her collection.

Using sharp lines around the neck Lhuillier also produced a sexier shape without having to show off too much flesh.

As actress Mandy Moore sat front row she seemed pleased at the collection, especially after she has already adorned two of the designer’s gowns for Oscar ceremonies.

Mixing fabrics such as lace, silk and wool on trench coats and cardigans with bursts of magenta, Lhuillier proved to her crowd that daywear doesn’t have to be boring at all.
