Designers such as Anthony Vaccarello and Communn opened the spring/summer 2012 shows kicking off with sculptured and sexy body-con dresses with cut-out detailing, maxi dresses with thigh-high splits and then switched to a juxtapose arrangement of simple shift dresses, stripes and bird of paradise T-shirt prints.
As well as these two collection designers to contribute will also include Lanvin, Roland Mouret, ChloƩ, Stella McCartney, Chanel, Valentino and Louis Vuitton amongst others.
After his anti-semitic rant, being found guilty, suspended and fined – with no jail time – John Galliano’s collection is also set to show this coming Sunday (2 October 2011), but whether the designer will be in attendance will be anyone’s guess. After the above attack Galliano was instantly fired from his position as creative director at Christian Dior, and the rumor mill is in overdrive as to who will step up and replace him for their forthcoming show on Friday.
Alongside the drama there is also a new diffusion line launching amidst the catwalk collections. French label BALMAIN are due to release three videos to promote their new line, Pierre Balmain, over the corse of Paris Fashion Week starring model Abbey Lee. Lee, who has modeled for Gucci, Prada and Versace this season alone will also create the soundtrack for the video with her band Our Mountain.
The collection will include informal women’s and menswear such as jeans and T-shirts as well as evening wear pieces, and be sold in over 700 stores worldwide.
